GIADA Floral Lexicon art tableware collection was unveiled during Milan Design Week at the GIADA House global flagship store at Via Montenapoleone 15 in Milan’s luxury district. The art tableware collection was displayed in a conceptual space on the first floor of the flagship store, complementing the window display of the GIADA 2024 Spring/Summer collection.
GIADA’s first art tableware collection was designed by Massimiliano Locatelli, the founder of the internationally renowned architectural design studio Locatelli & Partners and a renowned designer. The Floral Lexicon art tableware collection consists of a set of plates, bowls and cups made from Jingdezhen white porcelain, using a dark engraving process to present the floral prints designed by Gabriele Colangelo, GIADA’s creative director, in the 2024 spring and summer collection. This traditional technique of embedding floral dark patterns in white porcelain has long been lost in today’s porcelain industry, and was redeveloped and used by Locatelli, using the exquisite skills of Jingdezhen craftsmen. GIADA’s elegant and high-end design style meets the craftsmanship of Jingdezhen, the thousand-year-old porcelain capital, and fashion and art design blend together to inject vitality into the Floral Lexicon art tableware collection. Each piece in the series is a new interpretation of the floral elements in GIADA’s ready-to-wear collection. The minimalist and elegant beauty expressed by Gabriele Colangelo, GIADA’s creative director, in his clothing design also permeates every detail of the art tableware collection.
“I am very honored to work with GIADA and design the brand’s first art tableware series.” Designer Massimiliano Locatelli said, “The novelty of this work lies in the size of the tableware, which is between the European standard size and the Chinese standard size, which is very suitable for Italian dinner or Chinese lunch. The cup can be used to taste the warmth of hot tea or the coolness of sparkling wine. The bowl is used to hold pasta or rice, and the plate is used to hold other dishes, which can meet different dining scenes.”
The tableware series debuted at a local media preview dinner in Milan on April 9. The dinner was jointly presented by Chao Shang Chao, which focuses on traditional Chaoshan cuisine, and GIADA Garden, a high-end Italian restaurant under GIADA. Executive chef Zhang Yifeng and Marino D’Antonio, two Michelin-starred chefs, performed a comprehensive combination of Chinese and Western cuisines from tableware to dishes for the guests, which was a double feast for the eyes and taste.
GIADA adheres to the brand philosophy of “Art to Art” (originating from art and returning to art), aiming to provide women with high-quality and artistic clothing and lifestyles. This voice at the international design event Milan Design Week is another manifestation of GIADA’s unremitting promotion of art and culture, integrating lifestyle into the journey of art. The brand practices tolerance for cultural and artistic diversity, and its mission of integrating traditional skills into modern life, extending GIADA’s luxury attitude and craftsmanship to a broader field of art.
